چکیده

We present a constructive approach to obtain information about the compactness and shape of large-scale lowest excitations in disordered systems by studying order parameter fluctuations (OPF) at low temperatures. We show that the parameter G that measures OPF is 1/3 at T = 0 provided the ground state is unique and the probability distribution for the lowest excitations is gapless and with finite weight at zero excitation energy. We then apply zero temperature scaling to describe the energy and volume spectra of the lowest large-scale excitations that scale with the system size and have a weight at zero energy P̂v(0) ∼ l−θ ′ with v = l . A low-temperature expansion reveals that, OPF vanish like L−θ , if θ > 0 and remain finite for space-filling lowest excitations with θ = 0. The method can be extended to extract information about the shape and fractal surface of the large-scale lowest excitations. PACS numbers: 7550L, 0550

High order perturbation study of the frustrated quantum Ising chain

In this paper, using high order perturbative series expansion method, the critical exponents of the order parameter and susceptibility in transition from ferromagnetic to disordered phases for 1D quantum Ising model in transverse field, with ferromagnetic nearest neighbor and anti-ferromagnetic next to nearest neighbor interactions, are calculated. It is found that for small value of the frustr...

∆-Scaling in Spectator Fragmentation

Universal scaling-laws of fluctuations (the ∆-scaling laws) have been derived for equilibrium systems, and shown to apply also in certain out-of-equilibrium situations. [1]. Recently looking for signals of a phase transition in multifragmentation reactions the model-independent theory of universal fluctuation has been used [2]. The ∆-scaling is observed when two or more probability distribution...

Statistics and Scaling in Disordered Mesoscopic Electron Systems

This review is intended to give a pedagogical and unified view on the subject of the statistics and scaling of physical quantities in disordered electron systems at very low temperatures. Quantum coherence at low temperatures and randomness of microscopic details can cause large fluctuations of physical quantities. In such mesoscopic systems a localization-delocalization transition can occur wh...

Information-theoretic approach to ground-state phase transitions for two- and three-dimensional frustrated spin systems.

The information-theoretic observables entropy (a measure of disorder), excess entropy (a measure of complexity), and multi-information are used to analyze ground-state spin configurations for disordered and frustrated model systems in two and three dimensions. For both model systems, ground-state spin configurations can be obtained in polynomial time via exact combinatorial optimization algorit...

Unversal Features of the Order-parameter Fluctuations

We discuss the universal scaling laws of order parameter fluctuations in any system in which the second-order critical behavior can be identified. These scaling laws can be derived rigorously for equilibrium systems when combined with the finitesize scaling analysis. The relation between order parameter, criticality and scaling law of fluctuations has been established and the connexion between ...
